VRRP router failover

Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol automatically switches traffic to a backup router and circuit if the primary router or line fails.

Active-Active or Active-Passive?

Active-Active

Both circuits carry traffic simultaneously, giving combined bandwidth. If one fails, service continues at reduced speed on the other.

Active-Passive

One circuit is primary; the secondary takes over automatically if it fails, then reconverges once the primary line is restored.

What is RAO2 fibre?
RAO2 (Resiliency Access Option Two) is the gold standard in internet resilience, providing diversely routed fibre from your premises into the ISP network. It's available as RAO2 Standard (diverse routes to the same exchange) or RAO2 Plus (routed to different exchanges entirely).
How does the failover actually happen?
We use IP SLAs and dynamic BGP routing to detect faults and switch your traffic between diverse circuits automatically. High-availability routers and firewalls are configured so a device, port or circuit failure never interrupts your service.
Can I back up broadband as well as a leased line?
Yes. Backup can be configured across leased lines, EoFTTC or business broadband circuits — including 4G/5G failover — matched to the level of resilience your site requires.
Do I need dual routers and firewalls?
For true end-to-end resilience, yes — a backup circuit alone won't help if your router or firewall is the single point of failure. We can design, deliver and configure dual routers and firewalls in high-availability mode alongside your backup circuit.
