FAQs

Microsoft Teams Phone, answered

How does Microsoft Teams connect to the PSTN network?
Teams can connect to the PSTN via Microsoft Calling Plans, Direct Routing or Operator Connect. We deliver our managed service using Operator Connect, as it requires no PowerShell scripting.
Is Microsoft Teams replacing Skype for Business?
Yes, Microsoft Teams has replaced Skype for Business, which is no longer supported.
What is an SBC?
A Session Border Controller (SBC) provides connectivity between Teams and a customer's PBX for outbound PSTN calling. We can quote a dedicated AudioCodes SBC if your environment needs one.
Do I need a landline for Teams Phone?
No landline is required — Teams Phone runs over any internet connection. We can also help you find the right business connectivity to support it.
What IP phones are supported with Teams?
We support Yealink Teams VoIP phones (MP54, MP56, MP58 and VP59) as part of our managed service, and can check compatibility for most other existing IP phone hardware.
