The Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme: how it worked

Stream Networks·Business Connectivity Team

Stream Networks was a registered supplier on the Government's Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, which let eligible businesses claim up to £2,500 towards upgrading to a Gigabit-capable internet connection.

Why the scheme mattered

As more software and systems moved to the cloud and internet-facing telephony took over from traditional on-premise solutions, existing connectivity struggled to keep up. The scheme made Gigabit-capable fibre connections more affordable for SMEs, letting more businesses take advantage of the performance and cost savings that come with them.

What the grant covered

  • Cost savings — up to £2,500 off fibre connectivity costs compared to standard market pricing.
  • Super-fast fibre speeds — 1Gbs fibre connectivity, providing reliable, low-latency connectivity ideal for VoIP and video.
  • Enhanced service levels — a 6-clock-hour fix to major service outage, with the option to add fibre backup for a 100% uptime guarantee.
  • Enhanced support — 24x7x365 support on all fibre circuits from Stream's Network Operations Centre in Newbury, with proactive monitoring via the Cascade customer portal.

Although the Gigabit Voucher Scheme has closed, Stream Networks continues to own and operate a purpose-built fibre network for business, with 24x7x365 UK-based technical support.
